Je suis..

Lars Douwe Schuitema. Born on 11 March 1992 in Enschede. As a little boy I liked drawing, going outside a lot, and playing the computer.

When I grew older I started building websites. The first website I ever worked on was a so called "criminals game" website, were people could compete against each other as a gangster. I didn't really build it myself, but I changed the design and edited the database details. Later on I would start building my first HTML websites.

Starting higher education I didn't really know what to expect. As a kid I never really liked studying books and doing what others (teachers) say. Instead I preferred creating my own projects. But ofcourse I was no longer a kid and started doing what was necessary to achieve my goals.

One of the skills I like most is coding, because you can actually build the product that you figured out. It is the skill were multiple important parts about the product comes together. Things like design, interaction and content.

LESS, SASS, Flexbox, HTML, CSS, PHP, NodeJS, SQL, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, XML, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Premiere, Illustrator, Indesign, Wordpress, WooCommerce, Bootstrap, Formstone, Joomla, Virtuemart, MySQL Workbench, Sublime Text, Filezilla, Koala, Virtualbox, Command Prompt, Angular, GruntJS, MongoDB, SEO, GitHub, CoffeeScript

A lot of designs nowadays look the same. We design like robots. I hate it. Design is not just about usability or interaction, it is also about creativity and aesthetic. If a company askes you to build a website and you make one that looks the same as all the other companies, you did something wrong.

Skill mastery

Mastering a skill requires both theory and practice. Once you have mastered a skill it becomes automatic. The only way to really master a skill is to decide which path you're going to take. Personally I have decided to go more into code, because you can actually build what you have in mind.

Sports is what I do to stay fit and mentally strong

I started playing football when I was five. I loved playing in a team and winning the game together. When I turned eightteen I felt I wanted to do something else, so I started kickboxing. Kickboxing made me mentally stronger, which helped me achieve under pressure.

I build experiences, not just a website or an app.

Looking at my skills you would assume I build websites, but what about bringing the experience to a local shop? I don't just minimize my creativity to creating websites, but use my fantasy to give the customer and their customers a total experience.
